Yellow River Archive

a collabrative project open to participation by anybody with a connection to ballinamore and it’s environs

For Ballinamore + Environs – A ‘Living’ Archive Project of story and image

The Yellow River Archive project is an evolving multi media collection of stories and image and as part of this project people with an interest in and/or a connection to Ballinamore and its surrounding area are invited to contribute to this ‘living archive’ through various means and channels.

Together with Solas Art Gallery, Ballinamore Library and the kind support of Creative Ireland (Leitrim), artist Vanya Lambrecht Ward will collate the collected materials and research and create an archive that can continue to grow and tell the story of the area in its own original manner.

With this project we hope to ‘map’ in a new way the unseen and undocumented views, accounts, histories and interpretations of the area that make up the present-day places we work, live and dwell.

Through weekly ‘Call Outs’, we hope to develop an (online) ‘living’ archive, a (real life) publication and a (real life) exhibition at Solas Art Gallery. We are interested in contributions of any kind, from stories to paintings, to songs and observations and poems.

If you would like your artistic, recorded or written contribution (that are related to the Ballinamore area) to be included in the archive, please follow the five easy steps set out in the submission section or post us a copy or photograph of your work. The weekly themes, meet ups and on-going work will be announced via our website, social media, newspapers and radio throughout the month of August.
