Vicky Crawford: ‘Songs of Hope’

Catherine Mc Gagh: ‘Soul Visions’

Carmel Reynolds: ‘Shore’

Three solo exhibitions at Solas Art Gallery, opening on Friday 10th October at 7.30pm.

As we officially enter the the final stretch of the year, Solas Art Gallery welcomes you to their upcoming joint solo exhibition. Three Leitrim based artists embark on setting the tone of strength in nature and soul.

Vicky Crawford is a printmaker, musician, and illustrator. As a bird enthusiast, her exhibition titled ‘Songs of Hope’ demonstrates birds creatively through her different printmaking techniques from Lino, dry point etchings to collagraph printing. Vicky also believes in community, not only being made up of humans but also the natural world and advises us to ‘reconnect as our ancestors did to the land we inhabit and to be mindful that we only share it, we are custodians not keepers’.

Carmel Reynolds is an artist who draws, sketches and photographs her local beaches, coves and inlets as source material for her paintings in oils and acrylics. Carmel is fascinated by the rugged texture of the rocks and cliff faces, the variegated colours of seaweeds and the changing moods of the ocean. The figurative and abstract pieces chosen for her exhibition ‘Shore’ aim to convey the majestic energy of the ocean while acknowledging its restorative and destructive forces.

Catherine McGagh is a visual artist and yoga teacher and showcases her oil on canvas, charcoal on paper paintings and copper wire sculptures in her exhibition titled ‘Soul Visions’. This series documents communication from her unconscious intuitive soul on her inner healing journey and at the same time she believes they also represent universal spiritual experiences. ‘Art can take you to places the mind and talking cannot’.

This joint exhibition will officially be opened by award winning explorative artist and previously professional Leitrim Librarian Gabrielle Flynn. Join us at the Island Theatre in Ballinamore on Friday 10th October at 7:30pm for an evening of live music, refreshments and community as you experience reflections of nature and soul. This joint exhibition runs till 7th November.
