collaborative Artist Statement
“Our joint venture stemmed from a spontaneous conversation at an exhibition opening, when it suddenly came to light that there was a wealth of photographic creativity in this one room with four photographers present. And so our journey of exploring our different imagery perceptions, to create a joint solo exhibition titled - ‘Unity in Focus’ began. Together, we explored our multiplicity of perspectives and artistic interpretations of the theme ‘Trees’ during photo-walks of Co. Cavan & Fermanagh. Rooted in observations; light, textures, patterns, moods and times held in place were captured. Hereafter, we each delved deeper into our own individual creations and niches seen throughout this exhibition also. This work is an offering of our visualisations and emotions shaped through the lens but completed through your gaze. We truly hope you enjoy this space and the individual interpretations it holds and that something within it stays with you”.
The exhibition brings together four photographers in a unique “joint solo” format, where each artist presents an individual body of work while contributing to a shared thematic vision. Emerging from a spontaneous conversation between the artists, Unity in Focus explores how different perspectives can coexist within a single creative space.
Rooted in observations of nature, each artist interprets light, texture, mood, and moment through their own lens. The result is a rich and varied exhibition that reflects both personal expression and collective dialogue.
The participating artists include Sara Andrews, Dina Ozola, Jennifer Richardson and Elspeth Stockwell whose work spans emotive portraiture, abstract interpretations of nature, and deeply personal visual storytelling. Together, their photographs offer an immersive experience that invites viewers to engage, reflect, and find their own meaning within the images.
Each individual theme is also captivating: Sara’s “Walk with me” shares early-morning walk discoveries. Dina’s “Presence” presents ten photographs celebrating love, resilience and belonging. Jennifer’s “Nature’s Palette” examines nature’s colours, textures and moods. Elspeth’s “Frith” reflects on finding refuge and tranquility in nature.
‘Unity in Focus’ runs from May 15 through June 12, 2026 during gallery opening hours Tuesday to Friday 12 to 5 pm, Saturdays 10 am to 3 pm. All are welcome to attend the opening and experience this thoughtful and visually compelling exhibition, where the artists’ perspectives are ultimately completed through the gaze of the viewer.
