Half day encaustic art workshop at the Solas Art gallery, Ballinamore, County Leitrim

With encaustic artist Isabelle Gaborit.

On Tuesday 21st November, the Solas art Gallery hosted a half day encaustic art workshop with encaustic artist Isabelle Gaborit.

During this half day long workshop, artists had the opportunity to discover the fascinating art of Encaustics, an ancient painting process using molten beeswax, resins and natural pigments. The class proved very popular, with all those attending ranging from beginners to established artists, in both cases - people who have never practised encaustics and wished to discover this wonderfully versatile medium.

Isabelle introduced her students to the basic techniques of encaustic painting, sharing its spontaneous virtues of working with texture and colours and its versatility with building up layers.
