Rikki van den Berg

Originally from Holland, Rikki spent her formative years in Ireland in the seventies. In 1997 she returned to Ireland, establishing herself as a figurative and abstract painter, embarking on a personal journey in search of identity and place.

Her landscapes are inspired by her surroundings; the past and the present, the rawness of nature and rural civilisation, recognising a vulnerable beauty, a fleeting moment of timelessness, a connectedness. She is continuously searching for her individuality, yet also holds familial and social historical reference in her figurative work. All perhaps in essence mounting to the same search for an abstracted sense of belonging.

Her work has received both national and international acclaim and is currently represented by several renowned galleries in Ireland an Northern Ireland.
