BIOGRAPHY EILEEN FERGUSON

 Eileen Ferguson was born in Edinburgh.  She studied BA Hons Fine Art at The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art Dundee 1982-1986.  Then went on to Study an MA in Fine Art at the University of Ulster at Belfast 1988-1989.

 In 1990 she was awarded an Artist in Residency for 3 months at the Tyrone Guthire Art Centre at Annaghmakerrig . In 1991 she was awarded by the  Arts Council of Ireland a Visual Artist  Bursary .  Over the next few years Eileen has been awarded funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs Ireland for residencies in America at Rancho Linda Vista , Tuscon Arizona, exhibiting in Atlanta Georgia.  Culture Ireland has awarded her grant aid towards a variety of exhibitions.  Eileen has been involved in the Artist in Prison Scheme Arts Council of Ireland. She has also had artist in residencies in Cill Raillig and Inis Oirr.

In 2002 Eileen was a prize winner in Revealing Objects at Queens University Belfast.  She has exhibited in the Royal Ulster Academy Annual Summer Exhibition and is exhibiting in the Royal Hibernian Academy Summer Show this year.

 She has received commissions form Monaghan CountyCouncil Postcard 1916 Project.  The Partick Kavanagh Bicentenary Monaghan County Museum , Per Cent of Art Scheme the Former Garda Barracks Monaghan. Eileen was selected for the Leabhar Mor Na  Gaelige collaboration between Poets calligraphers and visual artists.

Touring exhibition across America and Canada.

Eileen has exhibited widely in Ireland most recent solo exhibition  was in the Alley Art Centre Strabane 2017. Past solo shows have been in Temple Bar Gallery Dublin, The Arts Council Gallery Belfast. Sligo Art Gallery.

She has had many group exhibitions. Selection - The Origin Gallery Dublin. Selected groups shows LAF Art Festival France, Creatives at Le Manior Normandy France,The Markethouse Gallery Monaghan, L.S.C. Leitrim, Gracefield Art Centre Dumfries, Aberdeen City Gallery, Drogheda Art Centre, Luan Gallery, Boyle Arts Festival , Kingshouse, Chelsea Arts Fair New York, Slaughterhouse Gallery London, Richard Demarco Gallery Edinburgh, Claremorris Open. Boltax Gallery New York State.

Eileen has work in public collections The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Bank of Ireland , The Office of  Public Works, Monaghan County Museum, VEC Monaghan, Beaumont Hospital , Drogheda Hospital  and private collections.

In 2018/19 Eileen will be exhibiting in the Royal Hibernian Academy Summer Show, she has been selected to show work in the Custom House Studios Westport 2019.

She has had reviews in The Irish Times, Belfast Telegraph , Sunday Tribune, West Hampton News New York.  Writer Dermot Healy has written about her work , TG4 Film about Artists in their Studio.

 Her studio is situated in the Old Victorian Post Office in Clones she is a co founder . The studios have recently been awarded capital grant funding for refurbishment . Eileen’s partner is Artist Neal Greig
